JC Community Band plans two concerts

  The Johnson City Community Concert Band will present two concerts in Johnson City to celebrate the holidays.
  The band will play familiar carols and old favorites during a 7:30 p.m. performance today, Dec. 7, at the Mall at Johnson City, in front of Proffitt's.
  The band will then present its annual holiday concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, in the sanctuary of Central Baptist Church, 300 North Roan St., Johnson City. At this concert the band will welcome its new director, Roxanne Haskill, who is director of bands at East Tennessee State University.
  Both concerts are free and open to the public.
  The Johnson City Community Concert Band is composed of adults, age 18 and over, from all walks of life and levels of musicianship. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings at Mathes Music Hall on the campus of East Tennessee State University. Among those from Elizabethton who are members of the band are Nancy J. Ernest, Sherrill and Gayle Heaton and Scott Heaton.
  Membership is free and open to anyone who plays or has ever played a band instrument. No audition is required. Meet new friends and enjoy the pleasure that making music brings.
