776 to return Saturday
From Staff Reports
The last members of the Army National Guard's
776th Maintenance Company who deployed to Fort Campbell, Ky.
in January will return home Saturday, Dec. 20 just in time
for Christmas. The unit will arrive at the Elizabethton Armory,
Route 9, Don Lewis Rd. at 4 p.m.
Randy Harris, communications director for the
state's Department of Military, said Tuesday the decision
for the rest of the company to return was "just part of a
normal rotation". He said between 60 to 80 soldiers will arrive
home Saturday.
The 776th deployed to Fort Campbell to assist
the 101st Airborne Division before it left for Iraq. Afterward,
the unit helped prepare other companies for mobilization from
Fort Campbell.
A "welcome home" event is scheduled for Saturday.
