Chiropractic Centers sponsoring toy drive

Dr. Charley F. Ward and Dr. Howard W. Dennis at Ward and Dennis Chiropractic Centers are sponsoring a Kids Toy Drive. Toys will be collected through Dec. 22.
The public is invited to donate an unwrapped new toy or toys for Elizabethton and Carter County children at the chiropractic centers, located at 851 W. Elk Ave. All of the toys will be donated to local charities.
The two chiropractic centers donated toys received prior to Dec. 8 to the Carter County Community Services Council's Christmas basket distribution (including food and toys) held on Dec. 10. All toys received between now and Dec. 22 will be given to needy children in the community, who participate in the Head Start Program or who are with their mothers at The Shepherd's Inn, the local shelter of battered and homeless women and their children.
"We believe that many generous people did not have a chance to buy toys for the recent basket give-away," said Dr. Dennis. "The thought of a child being unable to open a present this year devastates me, so we are taking steps to collect as many toys as possible with 200 our goal this year. In fact, our entire team at Ward and Dennis Chiropractic Centers have committed to purchasing toys for the kids instead of giving presents to one another this year."
"We discovered too much need locally as we sponsored our earlier community coat/blanket and food drives that we decided not to participate in a national toy drive so that we could keep all toys donated here in our local area to benefit local children," said Dr. Ward. "After collecting 500 coats plus many bags of other warm clothing, 100 blankets and 1,000 pounds of food -- all donated to local agencies and ministries -- we believe that our goal of 200 toys is well within the reach of the generous hearts of our patients and our community."
Also, local businesses are invited to participate in the drive to help the chiropractors meet and even surpass the goal.
