Four juveniles arrested after pursuit

From Staff Reports

Four juvenile males ages 14-17 were arrested last Wednesday night after a Drug Enforcement Administration agent attempted to stop a silver 1993 Ford Taurus at the intersection of Highway 67 and West G Street.
Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Richard Haney spotted the vehicle and also attempted to stop it. The vehicle traveled from Division Street to Charlotte Drive to Crescent Drive, where the officer disengaged pursuit at the order of Capt. Art Smithdeal.
Ptl. Haney still had the vehicle in sight, however, and observed it turn onto Woodhaven Drive where it ran off the road and into a yard. Five males exited the vehicle and split into groups. Ptl. Haney gave chase and the juveniles were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
Meanwhile, EPD Sgt. Matt Bailey was dispatched to Happy Valley High School on a report of vandalism. According to police, some female subjects walking on the track observed the gate to the football field down and reported what appeared to be circles of damage in the middle of the field.
Upon investigation it was found that the vehicle driven by the 15-year-old juvenile was reported stolen from Pucketts Auto Sales, 2138 W. Elk Ave., and the registration is reported stolen from Unicoi.
All juveniles were taken to the police department, where they were issued a juvenile summons. The driver was issued a juvenile summons for felony theft and was transported to Johnson City Juvenile Detention Center.
