New polling place for Midway voters

From Staff Reports

County citizens voting in the Midway precinct will be casting their ballots at a different polling location on Sunday after a fire damaged the Stoney Creek/Buladeen Community Center on Thursday night.
Voters who usually vote at the Community Center will be voting at the Poplar Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, according to the Carter County Election Commission.
The Fellowship Hall is located beside the Community Center.
According to the incident report by Carter County Sheriff's Department, deputies were dispatched to the Center at approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday in reference to a structure fire.
Reserve Capt. David Cornett reported observing a fire at the rear of the building. The fire was later found to be coming from a back room used to store firewood, according to the report.
The building suffered fire damage to the rear of the building as well as smoke and water damage.
The Commission also wishes to advise citizens who vote at the Harold McCormick School precinct that there is ample parking for voters behind the school near the gym entrance where voting will be held.
