City announces leaf collection schedule

From Staff Reports

The city of Elizabethton Public Works Department will begin curbside vacuum leaf collection on Monday, Nov. 4, and continue through January 31, 2003, or until all leaves are collected.
Leaves are to be raked in piles and should be placed on the curbside only. Leaves placed in public streets, gutters, or over storm drains is expressly prohibited.
Public works officials ask for the public's patience during the period as crews will be servicing each area of the city as soon as possible.
For those citizens who only generate a small amount of leaves and wish to bag them, sanitation crews will collect bags on their regular garbage collection day providing that they are placed curbside with the other garbage container(s).
The city's Public Works Department reports that the entire city should be covered by Dec. 1. The second round should be completed Jan. 1, with the final clean up completed by Jan. 1.
