Those looking for a craftier way to spread their Christmas cheer, as well as support local artists, may want to visit Sycamore Shoals Historic Park, which is sponsoring its annual Christmas Craft Show the weekend of Nov. 8-10.
The showcase is titled "Reason for the Season" and will feature a wide variety of crafted items, according to Johnnie Pilk, secretary at the park.
"Anything from Christmas ornaments to Christmas presents," she said. "Really, just anything you can think of."
Pilk noted that among the crafts are homemade candy treats, handmade clothing, wood crafts, Christmas decorations and crocheted items.
All of the items to be presented at the show were crafted by local artists and will be available for purchase.
Sycamore Shoals Historic Park expects a large turnout this year for the annual event as it has drawn crowds in previous years.
"Last year we had around 7,000 people visit in the three days that the craft show went on," Pilk said. "We're hoping to do about the same this year."
The craft show is free and is open to the public.
"A lot of places have started to charge admission to their craft shows, but we are not," said Pilk.
The show will be held in the main building at the park. Exhibition times are Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., on Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
