Army National Guard Unit Mobilized

   NASHVILLE -- Selected members of the 268th Military Police Company, Tennessee Army National Guard (TANG), in Ripley and Dyersburg will deploy Thursday, Nov. 29, to Fort Knox, Ky.
   Major General Jackie D. Wood, Tennessee's Adjutant General, said they are the first TANG members to be mobilized under Operation Noble Eagle.
   The 10-14 days of training consists of refresher courses in basic soldier skills, security measures and mission specific tasks. The final destination for the unit has not been released.
   The Military Police soldiers will augment existing security forces at Federal facilities, and will be mobilized for a period of up to one (1) year.
   Maj. Gen. Wood said volunteer Army Guard soldiers have provided security for six Tennessee airports, the State Capitol area, and National Guard facilities across the state since Sept. 11.
   Tennessee Air National Guard members from Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville have already been mobilized to provide airlift and communication capability to deployed forces.
