City leaf collection begins Monday

From staff reports

Curbside vacuum leaf collection in Elizabethton begins today, Nov. 5, and continues through Jan. 31, announced the City of Elizabethton Public Works Department.
Robert Laws, manager of streets and sanitation, said the first round of leaf collection should be completed by Dec. 1, second round by Jan. 1, 2002, and final round by Jan. 31.
Residents are asked to rake leaves in piles or wind rows and place them at curbside, not in public streets, gutters or over storm drainage catch basins.
If residents have a small amount of leaves and wish to bag them, city sanitation crews will collect them on their regular garbage collection day if the bags are placed curbside with garbage containers, Laws said.
