National Guard to augment law enforcement

From Staff Reports

In Nashville, Major General Jackie D. Woods announced late Wednesday that additional Tennessee National Guard personnel will assist Tennessee law enforcement officials in "securing key facilities throughout the state."
"With the possibility of further terrorist attacks, we have an obligation to the citizens of Tennessee to be proactive in our security measures," said Wood.
Wood said the new measures were being enacted in response to U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's recent warning of possible terrorist attacks within the next week.
"Operational security precludes the release of the number of personnel, unit identification, [or] deployment location," Wood said.
