Annual Fall Festival downtown Saturday

The Elizabethton Downtown Business Association is hoping for sunshine and warm temperatures Saturday, when the Second Annual Fall Harvest Festival will be held downtown, opening with the Farmers Market at 8 a.m.
The Farmers Market will be open until 2 p.m. in the City parking lot adjacent to Farm Supply on E Street.
Other events will begin at 1 p.m. with horse-drawn wagon rides in the downtown; a Kids Kountry Karnival in the Elizabethton Alliance Church and a petting zoo in the City parking lot behind the church on E Street.
Also, storytelling will be featured at the Coffee Company.
The car show will be held later in the day, beginning at 5 p.m. The last car show of the season will be held in the downtown on October 30.
"The fall festival will be the highlight of autumn downtown, and we hope parents will bring their children out to participate in the events. Also, stores will be open, and we hope it will be a great time for all," said John Bunn, President of the Elizabethton Downtown Business Association.
Bunn also noted that trick-or-treating downtown will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. "This is a popular event for the children, as well as the merchants. The streets are usually full of children and grownups, most of whom are in costume," Bunn said.
The Halloween trick or treating usually draws from one to two thousand persons downtown, merchants estimate.
"It's a fun time for the children, and it's safe," Bunn added.
