United Way at 10 percent
of 2004 campaign goal

The United Way of Elizabethton-Carter County at its first Campaign 2004 meeting Monday reported a total of $18,505.02 received thusfar in pledges.
The total represents 10 percent of the campaign's goal of $183,000.
Brenda Wallace, Executive Director, in her report to the board noted that $3,215 had been collected for Residential, which represents 58 percent of the division total. A total of $1,500 has been pledged toward the $8,200 goal in the Professional Division.
It was also reported that the hospital is only $500 away from its goal of $10,000.
The goals for each division are: Commercial, $64,000; Industrial, $32,100; Public Service, $73,200; Professional, $8,200; and Residential, $5,500.
Division chairmen include Kelly Gegley and Judy Jones, Commercial; Monica Feathers, Industrial; Angie Robinson and Mike Mains, Public Service; Sharon Sheppard and Dottie Brookshire, Professional; and Brenda Wallace and Tina Garrison, Residential.
Agencies served by the United Way include the Carter County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Community Day Care and Learning Center, Senior Citizens, UETHDA Neighborhood Service Center, ARM-Assistance and Resource Ministries; Boys and Girls Club of Elizabethton-Carter County, and Boy Scouts - Sequoyah Council.
Wallace said the United Way hopes to wrap up its 2004 campaign by Christmas.
