Postmaster Vickie Shipley of Elizabethton
receives award

Vickie Shipley of Elizabethton, postmaster at
Mountain Home, was recently recognized by the U.S. Postal
Service for community outreach activities.
Postmaster General Jack Potter presented Shipley
"The Benjamin Award," named after the first Postmaster General,
Benjamin Franklin.
The "Benjamin" is the Postal Service's highest
honor for Postmasters who generate positive community outreach
activities.
Shipley coordinated special events promoting
public awareness of Breast Cancer Research and Diabetes; planned
special programs to highlight veteran's issues; and is active
with local school systems.
A graduate of David Crockett High School and
East Tennessee State University, Shipley is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dale Archer of Jonesborough. Her husband,
Sam, is employed at the Elizabethton Post Office.
