Sandy Greenwell, local businessman, dies at JCMC

Sandy A. Greenwell, 79, of 316 Holston Avenue, died Sunday, October 14, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
   Greenwell was a native of Butler and the son of the late Sandy Sr. and Ethel Irick Greenwell.
   He was a co-owner with Earl Norris, of Nor-Well Company, from 1950-1990, and was active in the business at the time of his death.
   Greenwell was active in civic and community projects throughout his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
   Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Arvella Greenwell, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Terry Jones, a daughter, Sharon Nave and Mike McKinney, grandsons, Sandy Ryan Nave and Derek Alan Nave, and their father, Gray Nave, all of Elizabethton. Two sisters, Jane Nunley, Bristol, Va., and Phyllis Woodson, Wingate, N.C., also survive.
   Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Elizabethton, is in charge of arrangements.
