JOHNSON CITY -- Medical Care LLC, which has offices in Elizabethton and Hampton, is expanding with the planned opening of a new facility in Johnson City, according to CEO Steve Hopland.
The new offices will be located at 401 E. Main Street in a building formerly used by Ed Street Development Co.
The new offices will be in a good location to serve new patients in the Erwin and south Johnson City areas, while the Elizabethton and Hampton facilities will continue to serve their current patients.
The nearly 30,000 square foot building will enable the medical staff to treat a large number of patients. "We'll probably start out with one or two physicians and one or two extenders, who can write prescriptions or treat patients," Hopland said. "We'll probably have room to expand up to 16 physicians in the new office."
Medical Care LLC currently has approximately 28,000 active files in their Elizabethton and Hampton offices. "We'll be able to serve at least 28,000 in Johnson City, too," Hopland said.
The Elizabethton office originally opened in 1987 with Dr. Arnold Hopland (Hopland's father). "In 1997, we incorporated and formed a limited liability corporation," Hopland commented. "We continually expanded from that point on until today."
Medical Care LLC can possibly expand at the Hampton location. The Elizabethton location has no more room to expand. Hopland hopes that the new Johnson City facility will be open by the end of the year.
"We have space that we can expand in Johnson City," remarked Hopland, who said an elevator has been installed.
Hopland is pleased with the expansion to Johnson City. "We're really optimistic," he stated. "There's a lot of demand for quality patient care."
Hopland says Medical Care LLC is not currently looking to expand to other locations. "We're kind of covering these first, and then go on from there," he said. "You can only do so much at one time."
