Man seriously injured in Highway 91 accident

   Jose G. Silva, 19, address unknown, was seriously injured around 10:30 p.m. Thursday following a one-vehicle accident on Highway 91 near the Carter County Rescue Squad building.
   According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Jerry Proffitt, Silva was traveling south on Highway 91 in a construction zone when the 1988 Ford Taurus he was driving left the right side of the roadway and hit an embankment, flipping the vehicle over onto its top.
   Silva, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered severe head injuries, according to Trooper Proffitt. He was transported to Johnson City Medical Center by Wings Air Rescue.
   According to THP, Silva was on life support Saturday evening and efforts were being made to contact his family.
   Trooper Proffitt said alcohol was a factor in the accident. The investigation is continuing.
