Elizabethton Shriners plan busy October

The Elizabethton Shrine Club is planning two
big events in October, including celebration of the Golden
Anniversary of the Jericho Shrine Bowl and a bluegrass concert.
On Oct. 11, the Shrine Club will host the football
game between the Elizabethton Cyclones and the Daniel Boone
Pioneers. The festivities will start with a parade through
downtown Elizabethton featuring as many of the players of
the first Shrine Bowl as can be there, as well as units from
the Shrine Parade -- pipers, hillbillies, and a calliope.
The players will be introduced during the football game.
On Oct. 12, the Shrine Club will sponsor an evening
of bluegrass music beginning at 6 p.m. at the Elizabethton
Elks Club, 1000 N. Sycamore St. Folks in Carter and surrounding
counties are urged to buy their tickets, bring a lawn chair,
and come out and enjoy the music.
Tickets, which are $10 each, are available from
any Elizabethton Shrine Club member.
