Charges pending in fatal motorcycle accident

   Citations and criminal charges are pending in a two-motorcycle accident which occurred around 5:50 p.m. Sunday on Highway 91 near the 18 mile-marker, about half way to the top of Cross Mountain.
   According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Joe Lunceford, Marcus Mathes, 29, 134 Blazer View Road, Gray, died in the accident. John Fisher, 27, 802 E. Holston Ave., Johnson City, was transported by Wings Air Rescue to Johnson City Medical Center in critical condition. Fisher's condition had been upgraded to serious early today.
   According to Lunceford, the drivers of the motorcycles were in a group traveling south on Highway 91 when the drivers of the sport bikes lost control in the curve and went off the roadway, landing in trees.
   Members of the Highway Patrol, Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Carter County Sheriff's Department and Carter County Rescue Squad responded. THP's Critical Incident Response Team also was called in to reconstruct the accident.
