Two charged in theft of wheelchair

  Two local teenagers were charged with theft after they reportedly stole a wheelchair from a local retail store.
  Timothy Russel Chambers, 18, 1317 Siam Rd., and Thomas R. Guess, 18, 1808 Woodhaven Dr., were issued criminal summons for theft in connection with the incident.
  According to reports, at approximately 8:15 on Saturday, officers of the Elizabethton Police Department were dispatched to Taco Bell on West Elk Avenue to assist Wal-Mart Loss Prevention personnel. "Upon arrival, officer spoke with Loss Prevention officer who had detained two male subjects," EPD Ptl. Jerry Bradley states in his report. "He advised that an employee of Wal-Mart had witnessed the two subjects pushing a wheelchair belonging to Wal-Mart through the parking lot and off the property. The subjects were located inside Taco Bell in possession of the wheelchair."
  The wheelchair, which was a non-motorized model, was valued at $223.
  Both Guess and Chambers are scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Sept. 27.
