Gov. Phil Bredesen on Monday announced the appointment of a new member to the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center's board of directors in Elizabethton.
Reece Cole accepted a four-year position effective Aug. 1, 2003 through July 31, 2007.
Cole, 294 Lewis Cole Rd., retired from Summers-Taylor Paving Company in 1995 after working there for 41 years. He also serves on the board of directors for the Elizabethton Kiwanis Club.
"I feel honored being a Republican to be selected to serve on the board of directors. I am glad Gov. Bredesen is not letting politics enter into his selecting of various board members," said Cole.
In a letter to Cole, Gov. Bredesen said, "It is very important to fill our state boards and commissions with the most qualified dedicated citizens, such as yourself. I believe that your involvement will certainly make a positive impact on the board as a whole."
There are 17 Community Tennessee Rehabilitation Centers that are part of a network under the Tennessee Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services. The centers provide vocational evaluation, personal, social and work adjustment, job development and job placement.
