Accident sends one to hospital via Wings

   An Elizabethton man was injured while riding his bicycle on Gap Creek Road on Wednesday evening, according to Elizabethton Police.
   EPD Sgt. Rusty Verran reported that William White, no age available, of Big Springs Road, was traveling southbound on Gap Creek Road. White was riding the Schwinn bicycle while holding on to a Jeep Cherokee being operated by his wife, Sarah White, when he lost control of the bicycle and crashed, according to his wife's statement to police.
   White was airlifted to the Johnson City Medical Center by Wings. He was listed in serious condition this morning in the intensive care unit of JCMC.
   The accident occurred approximately one mile from the Gap Creek Road/West G Street intersection. The accident created traffic on the road for almost one hour.
   Verran said Wednesday evening that the Cherokee was the only car involved in the accident. He said the EPD's Strategic Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was conducting an investigation into the accident.
