Man charged with fraud, identity theft

  An Elizabethton man was arrested Friday morning and charged with fraud after police allege that the man attempted to use the identity of another person at a local hospital and pharmacy.
  John Allen Cooper, 35, 116 Scafford Branch Road, was taken into custody by Johnson City Police Department Investigator Frank Peters and charged with attempting to obtain narcotics by fraud and identity theft.
  According to a report by Peters, the 35-year-old man was arrested and charged subsequent to an investigation where Cooper went to the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital and used the TennCare card of another individual to obtain both medical services and a prescription. Cooper then reportedly went to Walgreen's Pharmacy in Johnson City where he then attempted to get the prescription filled by the pharmacy.
  Cooper is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court on July 26.
