Hale Community Ministries brings in teams each summer
to help improve the community. This summer, Belle Aire Baptist
Church from Murfreesboro, Tenn., came to give a local apartment
complex a make-over.
A team of 41 men and women rolled into town last
week to conduct Backyard Bible Clubs and help construct the
new playground at Lynnwood Apartments, which is equipped with
three swings, two slides, ropes and monkey bars.
Cathy May, manager of Lynnwood Apartments, said
she was glad to see the tenants outside enjoying the beautiful
day and the new playground equipment.
According to Ron Moore, the minister of education
for Belle Aire Baptist Church, this is their fifth year coming
to Elizabethton, but the first time they've done a playground
project to this extent. Last year, their church donated bags
of clothes to children in Elizabethton.
All the materials were purchased with donation
money from members of their church. The materials hauled from
Murfreesboro were assembled when they arrived by Walt Treadwell,
Jim Sellers, Mel Dickson and Randy Moore.
First Baptist Church of Elizabethton allowed the
team members to use their facility for cooking and worship
services while they were visiting.
During the dedication, all members of their team
gathered around the equipment and prayed for the safety of
the children using the equipment and the safety of their return
to Murfreesboro. Their team is also currently working on four
other projects.
