Man calls police after being disturbed by naked neighbor

From Staff Reports

A Carter County man was arrested early Wednesday morning after a neighbor reported that the man was attempting to gain entry to the residence and police found the man outside the home naked.
William Frank Pilkton, 42, 1016 Bishop Lane, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday by Carter County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Keith Range and charged with aggravated criminal trespassing and indecent exposure.
According to reports, police were summoned to a residence on Bishop Lane in reference to a prowler. "Upon arrival, I observed a white male subject, who had no clothing on, standing at the side door of the residence," Range states in his report. "As I approached, the subject began to walk to the back yard of the residence. I followed and apprehended him in the back yard."
At that time, officers asked Pilkton, whom Range describes in his report as being in a confused state, why he was not wearing any clothing. "I asked Mr. Pilkton where his clothes were to which he replied 'They are in ashes,'" Range states in his report.
Deputies of the Carter County Sheriff's Department located Pilkton's clothing lying in the roadway.
The owner of the residence advised officers that he had called 911 because Pilkton kept trying to get inside his residence.
Pilkton is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Monday.
