A 49-year-old woman was injured after the pickup truck she
was driving was struck by another vehicle around noon on Thursday.
Mary E. Blevins, of 133 Bob Wright Road, was transported to
the Sycamore Shoals Hospital emergency room by members of
the Carter County Rescue Squad for treatment of possible back
and neck injuries.
According to Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Carl Burrough,
Blevins was operating the truck west bound on West Elk Avenue
in front of Taco Bell and Baskin Robbins restaurants when
her vehicle was struck by another that was attempting to enter
the roadway.
The other vehicle, a blue Honda Civic EX, was driven by Heather
Cameron Marcum, 18, of 139 Carden Drive. Neither Marcum or
her 19-year-old passenger, Steven Walker, of 104 Nave Street,
was injured in the collision.
According to Burrough, Marcum was attempting to pull out from
the parking lot of the Taco Bell and Baskin Robbins restaurant
into the westbound lanes of traffic when her vehicle struck
the truck driven by Blevins. Burrough stated that Blevins
had been traveling in the left hand lane of traffic at the
time of the collision.
Blevins was treated at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital emergency
room and was released later in the day on Thursday.
