EPA to announce 'Smart Growth' grants

   Linda Fisher, deputy administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is scheduled to announce today in Washington, D.C., the launching of EPA's Smart Growth grant program.
   EPA is awarding $405,000 to nine communities under the "Smart Growth: Saving Open Space, Revitalizing Brownfields" program.
   Each community will receive $45,000 for the redevelopment of properties where reuse is complicated by real or perceived contamination.
