Tester announces candidacy for 7th
District commission seat
Richard Tester is seeking election to the
7th District seat on the Carter County Commission this year.
The district is made up of West Side and Happy Valley High
School precincts.
Tester is an electronics technician with Fleenor
Security Systems. He has served as constable for the county
for the past six years. He is currently an Associate Minister
and Sunday School teacher for The Bible Church.
He is a graduate of Elizabethton High School
and formerly attended Northeast State Technical Community
College. He is the son of L.C. Tester and the husband of Jessica
Tester.
Tester said as a commissioner he will work for
economic growth and see to it that there is an increase. He
stated that it was time to quit talking about economic development
and get busy doing something about it. "This will take some
work but I look forward to the challenge," said Tester.
He also said he would see to it that every tax
dollar will be spent more wisely than it has in the past.
He also said the county must continue to improve
the county school system while maximizing tax dollars and
accountability. Accountability and responsibility means improved
schools for our children, said Tester.
Tester said he would always have an open door
policy. He also said if citizens had any issues to call him
at 542-0713.
