Police identify wreck victim

From Staff Reports

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials identified the victim of a fatal car crash that happened late Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 19E.
Floyd C. Brooks, 61, 146 Okolona Rd., died as a result of injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle accident.
According to the THP, the vehicle, a gray Plymouth Sundance, had been traveling south on U.S. Highway 19E near the intersection with Old Highway 19E at the time of the crash.
The vehicle apparently crossed over the center line and struck a guardrail on the far side of the road. The vehicle was then sent into the air and down over an embankment and flipped, ejecting Brooks from the vehicle, before coming to rest on Old Highway 19E. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
One resident who lived near the scene of the crash reported hearing the sound of tires squealing and the noise the car made when it struck the guardrail but said that he had not seen the crash.
