Car wreck leaves one dead
From Staff Reports
A man was killed late Wednesday morning in a
single-vehicle car accident on U.S. Highway 19E.
According to officers of the Tennessee Highway
Patrol, the vehicle, a gray Plymouth Sundance with a Carter
County registration tag, had been traveling south on U.S.
Highway 19E near the intersection with Old Highway 19E at
the time of the crash.
The vehicle apparently crossed over the center
lines and struck a guardrail on the far side of the road which
sent the vehicle into the air and down over an embankment.
The car flipped, ejecting the driver, before coming to rest
on Old Highway 19E. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
One resident who lived near the scene of the
crash reported hearing the sound of tires squealing and the
noise the car made when it struck the guardrail but said he
had not seen the crash.
Further information about the wreck was unavailable
Wednesday evening. Dispatchers with the Tennessee Highway
Patrol said that no further information was being released
pending the notification of the next of kin.
