One injured in Holston Avenue wreck

   A two-vehicle accident that occurred near the Carter County 911 Communications District office sent an Elizabethton woman to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
   According to an accident report by Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Carl Burrough, a 1994 Subaru driven by 21-year-old Elizabeth M. Clemons, 921 Pine Ridge Circle, ran a stop sign at the intersection of East G Street and Holston Avenue and struck a gray Honda driven by a 16-year-old Watauga female. The Honda had been traveling northbound on Holston Avenue at the time of the collision.
   Clemons was transported to Sycamore Shoals Hospital by the Carter County Rescue Squad after being extricated from the vehicle. Her injuries were not life-threatening according to police.
   The 16-year-old female was also transported to Sycamore Shoals Hospital by emergency personnel as a precautionary measure.
   Police and 911 personnel diverted traffic away from the intersection for almost one hour while the vehicles were removed and the scene was cleared.
   According to police reports, Clemons was charged with failure to yield and violation of the financial responsibility law for not having insurance.
