ECS sets elementary registration dates for city students

From Staff Reports

Elizabethton City Schools have set registration dates for students currently enrolled and students who will be in the city school zones for the 2004-2005 school year.
Beginning Monday, May 3, parents of students currently enrolled in kindergarten through grade 4 may obtain out of zone and tuition applications for the 2004-2005 school year at the elementary schools where their child or children presently attend.
All applications must be returned to the schools' offices on Monday, May 10, in order to retain priority status.
Completed applications will be numbered as they are returned. Forms for siblings out of zone and tuition students may also be obtained at the school where a sibling is currently enrolled.
New out of zone and new tuition request forms will be given out at the ECS central office, 804 S. Watauga Ave., from May 10 through May 13. The forms may be returned to the central office beginning May 14. These forms will be accepted and numbered according to place in line.
New out of zone and tuition placements will be made according to availability at the school requested.
No new out of zone or tuition student should report to school on Aug. 17, the first half-day of the next school year. School representatives will call the parents of all students requesting new out of zone and tuition placement on Aug. 17 regarding placement for the 2004-2005 school year.
Elizabethton elementary schools will offer registration for new in zone students Aug. 9-13 from 8 a.m. to noon. Parents can pick up a registration packet during this time so the school administrator can determine placement for the 2004-2005 school year.
Parents of new in zone students must provide the school with a birth certificate, green card (immunization), current physical exam, Social Security number and proof of residence. All this information must be received prior to a student being enrolled.
