Two Johnson City residents arrested on numerous weapons, drugs charges

From Staff Reports

Two Johnson City residents were arrested Friday on numerous weapons and drug charges after police served an outstanding warrant on one of them, according to law enforcement officials.
Samara W. Johnson, 23, and Tommy Bennett, 26, both of 115 Beechnut Street, Apartment C-6, were arrested when Johnson City Police Department investigators served a warrant on Bennett in connection with an incident that occurred on May 2 when Bennett fled from an attempted traffic stop. The warrant charged Bennett with possession of Schedule VI drugs for resale, felony evading arrest, speeding and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
While officers served Bennett that warrant, they found another weapon, drugs, and drug paraphernalia at the residence.
As a result, Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule VI drug for resale (marijuana), possession of a Schedule II drug for resale (crack cocaine and cocaine), filing a false police report, and two counts of reckless endangerment.
Bennett was arrested on the outstanding warrant and, in addition, also charged with possession of Schedule VI drugs for resale, possession of Schedule II drugs for resale, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and escape after leading officers on a brief foot pursuit.
Johnson was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $26,000 bond, and Bennett was being held on a $500,000 bond. Both Bennett and Johnson were scheduled to be arraigned yesterday in Washington County General Sessions Court.
