Miller seeks 7th District constable position

   Jerry Miller today announces his candidacy for 7th District constable in the Aug. 1 General Election. The 7th District consists of the West Side and Happy Valley High School precincts.
   Miller has 15 years experience in law enforcement. He previously served as constable in Washington County, worked at Watauga Police Department, and is a former private investigator.
   Miller said that if elected his goal will be equality, fairness and professionalism in dealing with everyone. He promises to do regular checks on schools, churches, businesses, the homebound elderly, and also will be available to escort funerals. He said he intends to be "visible and accessible" to the community.
   Miller, a lifelong resident of the area, is married to the former Pam Rouse of Marion, Va. He has one son at home, David, a student at Elizabethton High School. Miller is employed by the Carter County School System.
   "Your vote and influence will be greatly appreciated," he said.
