NFS, union sign new four-year labor contract

   Nuclear Fuel Services Inc. of Erwin and Local 05-677 of the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union have reached an agreement on a new four-year labor contract following five weeks of negotiations.
   The agreement became effective at 11 p.m. Wednesday and will expire May 15, 2006.
   Doug Buckles, NFS director of Human Resources, said, "The company is very pleased that our union employees have ratified the new contract. The company looks forward to another four years of successful operations at the Erwin facility and continued growth."
   NFS President Dwight Ferguson said the agreement with the union is an important milestone for NFS. "We have a lot to do in the next four years and much of the credit for our growth goes to our employees.
   "The ratification of the labor contract assures that experienced and talented employees will continue to contribute to our success," Ferguson said.
