Fire marshal called in

FROM STAFF REPORTS

The state Fire Marshal's Office was called in Wednesday to help determine the cause of a fire which damaged approximately 75 percent of a building which housed three Elizabethton businesses, according to Elizabethton Police Chief Mike Shouse.
The building, located at 420 Railroad St., was owned by George Gwinn Jr., 726 Sylvan Hill Road.
Shouse said that according to preliminary investigation, the fire appeared to have started in the first bay where an employee was working on a Chevrolet Tahoe at Precision Collision Repair.
"We didn't see anything suspicious, but it was a pretty good-size fire and we just want to know what caused it," Shouse said. "It's always good to have some more eyes."
Mike Donnelly of the fire marshal's office, who is in charge of the investigation, spent most of the day at the scene.
