Walker announces for 5th District
constable
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Charlotte R. Walker, dispatch supervisor for
Carter County 9-1-1, has announced her candidacy for constable
of the 5th District, which includes Happy Valley High and
Elementary schools, and West Carter Volunteer Fire Department.
Walker, 44, of Milligan has been affiliated with
emergency services for 23 years, working closely with Carter
County volunteer fire departments, Carter County Rescue Squad,
and law enforcement through her job at 9-1-1. She was the
first and only patrol officer for Watauga Police Department
and was a dispatcher for five years and a deputy with Carter
County Sheriff's Department before going to 9-1-1.
"As a member of this community my entire life,
and mother of a 13-year-old son, I feel the people of this
community helped shape me into the person I am today.
"I will be a working constable for our community,
with continued close working relationships with all emergency
services. Extra patrol for our neighborhoods is one way to
help protect and serve the citizens of our community. I know
I am well qualified for this position because of my work history
with law enforcement and emergency services," Walker said.
"I am asking the voters of the 5th District to
vote for the experience and leadership I can bring to the
office of constable. I will serve our community to the very
best of my ability. Your vote would be greatly appreciated."
