Three juveniles injured in car wreck

From Staff Reports

Three juvenile females were injured in a single-vehicle accident on Monday that occurred in Quail Hollow, according to the Elizabethton Police Department.
EPD Ptl. Brook Mullins said that, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the vehicle in which the juveniles were riding struck a large brick mailbox on Beechwood Drive.
"It tore off both doors on the driver's side. The car then traveled another 241 feet before it hit a culvert and went airborne, then flipped over and caught fire," Mullins said.
All three passengers managed to scramble out of the vehicle.
The Carter County Rescue Squad transported two of the females to Sycamore Shoals Hospital, and the third juvenile only suffered minor injuries.
Mullins said one of the juveniles may have broken an ankle, and another suffered facial lacerations.
Speed and operator inexperience are possible factors in the accident, according to Mullins, but she couldn't make any conclusive statements. The accident remains under investigation.
Police did not release the names of the victims due to their age.
