Police are still searching for a 15-year-old Carter County girl who was reportedly taken by force from her home one week ago today.
According to reports, Kathy Elizabeth Gonzalez, of 131 Sara Annie Dr., was at home with her family when her 19-year-old boyfriend, who was identified as Juan Rameriz, of Johnson City, forced his way into the family's residence.
Gonzalez's mother, Eyvis Garcia, told police that, after her daughter's boyfriend forced his way into the residence, he assaulted her 16-year-old son and broke the door in to Gonzalez's bedroom. Rameriz then forced the girl from her home into a two-door, green Dodge Neon and fled the scene.
Police are also considering the possibility that the disappearance of Gonzalez may not have been a kidnapping. "He was her boyfriend so we do not know if it was voluntary and she is a runaway or if it was an abduction," said CCSD Sgt. Audrey Covington of the Criminal Investigations Division. "Right now we are treating it as an abduction."
Police later recovered the vehicle that Rameriz placed Gonzalez in and then fled the scene with at H&J Apartments on Seqouya Drive in Johnson City.
Gonzalez is described as a Hispanic female, approximately five feet, four inches tall and weighing approximately 110 pounds. She has black eyes and long black hair, a medium skin tone and was last seen wearing black jeans and a red short-sleeved shirt.
Rameriz is described as a Hispanic male, approximately five feet, six inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He has black hair and black eyes. He is reported to be armed.
Anyone who has any information about the whereabouts of either Gonzalez or Rameriz is asked to contact the Carter County Sheriff's Department at (423) 543-2211 or Sgt. Audrey Covington at 542-1856.
