Body of man found in Watauga River, Boone

   BOONE, N.C. -- Investigators are trying to identify the remains of a man whose body was found in the Watauga River Wednesday afternoon.
   According to the Watauga County Sheriff's Department, the body was discovered in the river at approximately 1:30 Wednesday afternoon by kayakers on the river along Guy Ford Road, near the "low water bridge."
   The body, which was nude when it was discovered, is described as an adult white male, possibly in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds with slightly long brown hair and a full brown beard. No identification was found with the body.
   Investigators are considering the case a homicide. The cause of death appears to be multiple stab wounds, according to information from the sheriff's department.
   The body was transported to the Watauga County Medical Center morgue late Wednesday evening. An autopsy was to be performed on the body Thursday.
