City school registration, tuition
guidelines announced
The Elizabethton City School Board has adopted
tuition rates for the 2002-2003 school year.
In grades K-8, each child will pay $600; grades
9-12, each child, $350 (no vocational discount will be considered);
outside of Carter County, each resident will be charged $800.
A family cap of $2,400 per year is in place.
Prior to any rural student's attendance in a
city school, tuition must be paid, either in one full payment
or in two one-half payments (before each semester).
The following procedures have been adopted by
the City School Administrative staff for out-of-zone and tuition
requests.
K-4 CURRENTLY ENROLLED OUT-OF-ZONE -- Applications
for out-of-zone requests may be obtained May 1-10 at the school
where your child is currently enrolled. Applications must
be returned to the school by May 10, 2002, in order to obtain
priority status.
K-5 CURRENTLY ENROLLED TUITION REQUESTS -- Applications
for tuition requests may be obtained May 1-10 at the school
where your child is currently enrolled. Applications must
be returned to the school by May 10 in order to retain priority
status.
K-5 NEW OUT-OF-ZONE/NEW TUITION REQUESTS -- Applications
for new out-of-zone and new tuition requests may be obtained
at the Elizabethton Board of Education office, 804 S. Watauga
Ave., May 1-10. Returned applications will not be accepted
until Friday, May 10, beginning at 7 a.m. at the Elizabethton
Board of Education office. Completed applications will be
numbered as they are returned.
T.A. DUGGER JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL -- T.A. Dugger
will host a parent orientation for upcoming sixth grade students
and any seventh or eighth graders who are not currently enrolled
in Elizabethton City Schools. If your child plans to attend
T.A. Dugger during the 2002-2003 school year, it is extremely
important for both parent and the child to attend this meeting
in the school auditorium on Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. Tuition
packets will be available. Registration will continue through
June 7 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, contact

ELIZABETHTON HIGH SCHOOL, NEW STUDENTS -- New
students will be registered during the month of May. Registration
for new students will take place in the guidance office at
Elizabethton High School by appointment. Parents must accompany
their child to the school for registration, which will take
about 20 minutes. For more information, call the guidance
