Meeting to focus on Watauga Lake/TVA study

From Staff Reports

   A public meeting for citizens concerned with Tennessee Valley Authority's two-year reservoir study and the impact to Watauga Lake and other water systems affected by their controls will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Captain's Table Restaurant on Highway 67.
   The last day for public input is April 26. Louis Whittemore of Johnson City said the community generally wants several things from TVA regarding the reservoir study:
   * Maintain Watauga Lake's full pool level longer, extending it to Sept. 15, beyond TVA's typical drawdown date;
   * Develop and maintain public recreational areas;
   * Continue to maintain and govern the excellent water quality; and,
   * Continue to aerate Watauga River to promote aquatic life and habitat.
   For more information or to help with the initiative, contact Whittemore at (423) 926-4050.
