Roan Mtn. Park receives $8,000 state grant

   NASHVILLE -- Sen. Rusty Crowe and Rep. Jerome Cochran announced today that Roan Mountain State Park is set to receive an $8,000 renovation grant to replace windows, gutters, steps and handrails at cabins 1-20.
   The grant is among 46 grants to state parks totaling $2,373,875 which Environment and Conservation Commissioner Betsy Child and Deputy Commissioner for Parks and Conservation Jim Fyke have indicated are being awarded from the Land & Water Conservation Fund for renovation and acquisition.
   "We are pleased to learn that our area is receiving this renovation grant to improve the facilities at Roan Mountain State Park," stated Crowe. "Parks play a vital part in the life of our community. We very much appreciate the work done by the department on behalf of our state parks."
   Senator Crowe represents Senate District 3 which includes Carter and Washington counties. Representative Cochran represents House District 4 which includes Carter County.
