Accident sends two motorists to local
hospitals
From Staff Reports
A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of
West Elk Ave./Bemberg Road sent two motorists to local hospitals
on Tuesday night.
According to a preliminary accident report by
Elizabethton Police Department Patrolman Mike McIntosh, a
Pontiac van driven by Angela Cole, 2616 Bob Little Road, was
traveling westbound on Elk Avenue. Cole's vehicle collided
with a Dodge Caravan driven by Mose James Fox, Jr., 65, 124
Victory Lane #2, at the intersection.
Both vehicles received minor damage to the front
fenders. The collision bent two state highway signs located
at the corner of the intersection.
Fox was transported to the Johnson City Medical
Center by the Carter County Rescue Squad (CCRS) after he complained
of chest pains, police said. His condition was unknown at
press time.
Fox's wife, Barbara Fox, was a passenger in the
Dodge vehicle, but was not transported for medical treatment,
according to the report.
The CCRS transported Cole to Sycamore Shoals
Hospital with minor injuries. Passengers in her vehicle --
identified as Joey Cole, 17, and Timothy Cole, 12 -- were
not injured.
McIntosh said all vehicle occupants were wearing
seat belts. Alcohol or other intoxicants did not contribute
to the accident, police said.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation
as of Tuesday night.
