Uniglobe wins 10-11 division regular-season
championship
from staff reports
The Uniglobe Hawks captured the 2003 regular-season
championship in the boys 10-11 year-old division at the Elizabethton
Boys & Girls Club.
The Hawks, coached by Ken Crapps, Adam Copeland
and Joseph Basconi, ended the year with a record of 18-2.
With Nolan Childers, Casey Crapps, Kendall Wash
and Mitch Broyles doing a good job at the perimeter positions
and Julian Smith, Ethan Laws and Luke Snyder holding down
the post positions, they were a tough team to beat.
"All seven players made positive contributions
for us during the season," said Coach Crapps about his team.
"They have worked hard and deserve to be champions.
"I threw a lot of things at them both offensively
and defensively, and despite limited practice time, they absorbed
it and responded well by listening, practicing and then executing
on the court.
"We had a lot of close games as everybody played
us tough, and I give credit to the other teams and coaches
for that.
"I want to thank the players for their hard work
and thank their parents and families for their support. I
am proud of these young men and wish them the best in basketball
and in life."
