From Staff Reports

A three vehicle accident in Hampton Tuesday afternoon left one man in police custody while all three individuals involved escaped injury.
Brandon Eugene English, 23, of Newland, N.C. was arrested by Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jeff Markland at the scene of the accident on First Avenue, near the intersection with Swimming Pool Road. He was charged with driving on a suspended license, violation of the vehicle registration law and violation of the financial responsibility law.
"According to witnesses, he (English) came around the curve at about 70 miles per hour on the wrong side of the road," Markland said. At that time, the car driven by English struck a Ford Explorer driven by Lauren L. Pipkin, 160 Sunny Acres, according to Markland.
After striking the Explorer, English's vehicle continued down the highway and also struck a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Jonah G. Ingram, 16, 105 Short St., Hampton. Ingram was issued a citation at the scene for violation of the financial responsibility law.
