City launches resident survey

The City of Elizabethton Planning and Development Office has launched a 90-day survey of residents to determine additional park and recreational facilities which are needed.
Results will be used to develop a Comprehensive Recreational Facilities Plan for the City of Elizabethton, according to David Ornduff, director of planning and development.
The survey was distributed to members of the Watauga Historical Association at their meeting last night at Sycamore Shoals State Park.
Ornduff said similar meetings would be held with civic clubs and other community organizations to obtain feedback.
Michael Hughes of the Local Planning Assistance Office, consultant to the City of Elizabethton on the project, also attended the meeting.
A random survey of Elizabethton's 13,000 population will also be conducted by mail in the near future, Ornduff said.
