Piney Flats teenager killed in Johnson City car accident

   A teenager from Piney Flats died Tuesday morning from injuries she sustained in a car accident in Johnson City, according to a press release from the Johnson City Police Department.
   Whitney Shea Broome, 17, 4302 Summerfield Dr., was driving south on Wilmary Road at Lands End Court around 7:30 a.m. when she crossed the center line of traffic on a hill and struck a northbound car driven by Leslie Tumidiski, 23, 461 J.A. Hodge Rd. #9, Piney Flats.
   The impact of the accident ejected Broome from her vehicle, according to police. Broome was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center by Wings Air Rescue where she died from her injuries.
   A juvenile passenger in Broome's car was transported by ambulance without serious injuries, police said.
   Tumidiski was examined at the scene and released uninjured.
   An investigation into the crash continues and it is unknown if any charges are pending.
