Four people, including a small child and two other juveniles,
were transported to the Johnson City Medical Center Monday
afternoon following an afternoon traffic accident on U.S.
Highway 91.
Rose Plank, 21, 777 U.S. Highway 91, the driver of an older
model Ford Crown Victoria, was one of the four transported
to the Johnson City Medical Center by members of the Carter
County Rescue Squad. The names of the small child and the
two juveniles were withheld due to their ages.
According to Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Michael
Carlock, a black Kia Sephia was traveling in the outside of
two southbound lanes on U.S. Highway 91 in the area of The
Movie Shack when it struck the Crown Victoria driven by Plank.
Carlock said Plank was in the north turning lane on the highway
attempting to turn into the driveway of her residence when
she turned into the path of the Kia driven by one of the two
juveniles who was injured.
A third vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was traveling in the inside
of the two southbound lanes at the time of the accident, according
to Carlock. The driver of the Camry swerved to avoid striking
the Crown Victoria.
The second juvenile transported by Carter County Rescue Squad
members to the Medical Center was a passenger in the Kia.
The small child who sustained injuries was a passenger in
Plank's vehicle.
Members of the Carter County Rescue Squad and the Stoney Creek
Volunteer Fire Department had to extricate Plank from her
vehicle.
Carlock said he did not know the extent of the injuries sustained
by the four individuals. He also said the accident is still
under investigation pending an interview with witnesses and
those injured.
