Roy K. Childress dies at 84

Roy K. Childress, son of William Roy Childress after whom the Brown-Childress Football Stadium was named, died yesterday evening at his residence, 1012 Circle Drive, Elizabethton. He was 84-years-old.
   In addition to his father, Mr. Childress was preceded in death by his mother, violinist and Sunday School teacher Edith Pauline Childress; a brother, Howard "Hank" Childress, and an infant son who died at birth.
   He is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Childress; one son, Roy Kenneth Childress II; a grandson, Kenneth Logan Childress; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Frank Robinson, and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Childress. Several nieces, nephews and first cousins also survive.
   Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
