Rozella Hardin honored by Local Lions Club

Rozella Hardin, assistant editor of the Elizabethton Star, was honored yesterday by the Elizabethton Lions Club for 33 years of service with the newspaper and to the community.
Lonnie Turner, club president, presented Ms. Hardin with a plaque in appreciation of her service.
"Rozella has been very dedicated to serving our city and county through her writings. Her writings have impacted our community through recognition of service organizations, such as the Elizabethton Lions Club, that serve those in need," Turner said.
Rozella writes a weekly column, "Off the Beaten Path," and is editor of Lifestyles and School News sections which appear in the Elizabethton Star regularly. "We all enjoy going on a walk with Rozella as she describes the history of our area," Turner said.
A graduate of Hampton High School, Rozella enjoys crafts, walking, reading and doing historical and genealogical research.
Charles Robinson, publisher of Elizabethton Newspapers, Inc., said the honor was well-deserved. "Rozella has played an important role in the success of the Elizabethton Star. We are proud of Rozella and her journalistic work to make our community a better place to live," Robinson said.
Guy Austin, editor, said "Rozella is the heart and soul of the Elizabethton Star."
Rozella was the Grand Marshal of the 2001 Elizabethton Christmas Parade.
